Choosing surrender is difficult. There are times when we feel like we have nothing good to bring. We are empty, desolate and starved of goodness. It is in those times, we approach Jesus with our broken hallelujahs. He is the one holding resurrection power. Like the bare broken branches of a tree that cannot boast, we bring ourselves raw and honest before him. Relying on him, for apart from him, we can do no good thing.

Lyrics

Written & Composed - Evangelin

Verse 1
Here in the desert, where I
thirst in abundance
I long for you
My jar is empty, my leaves have withered.
I long for you
The shadows, they creep bringing torment to me
I long for you

Pre chorus
Like the bare broken branches of a tree, I lift my arms (x2) (to reach for you)
Like the bare broken branches of a tree, I lift my arms (x2) (to reach for you)

Chorus X2
Jesus, here I am, here I am
Starving my pride, for your resurrection and life.
Cause in your absence, why does life look like death? (x4)

Verse 2
The desert wind howls and I am afraid
Sing to me a new song Lord.
Be unto me a hedge of fire all around.
My pillar of cloud, the seed planted in me
cannot prosper without you Lord.

Pre-chorus

Chorus

Bridge X2
Now, I’m washed in the water. Bought by your blood
Sunk in the spirit, I am yours.

Pre-chorus
Like the bare broken branches of a tree, I lift my arms, I lift my arms
Like the bare broken branches of a tree, I fall ... on my knees.
